Trip description
March 21 - 27, 2012. Private trips on other dates can be arranged.
The Chic-Chocs contain the highest mountains in Quebec and get far more snow than any other part of the Appalachians. It is the only place in North America where deer, moose and woodland caribou co-exist. We will ski for 5 days staying at comfortable wood stove heated cabins on our way to Mont Logan at 1,150m (3,773 ft.) The trail is of intermediate to expert calibre and varies from easy to difficult depending on snow conditions. Daily distances vary from 7 to 21 km (4-15 miles). We should have remarkable views as we ski above the tundra covered cliff wall, which looks out over the Lower St. Lawrence River. There are many small lakes and ponds along our route that are extremely beautiful in freshly falling snow.
WE will spend two nights in a cabin close to the top of Mont Logan allowing us to spend more time in this wonderland of snow. (8 feet on the ground in 2009).
Our supplies will be moved for us each day by snow machine so you may want to do some optional touring or telemark skiing after we arrive at the night's cabin especially on day's 4, 5 and 6.
Our first and last night will be spent at a bed and breakfast in Ste-Anne-des-Monts with breakfast included. Dinners will be at a local restaurant (not included)
Special Notes:
Restaurant meals while travelling are not included.
